Champions League:
Arsenal vs. Liverpool +18 Images

Arsenal were once again left frustrated by Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium as a 1-1 draw dealt a near fatal blow to their fading Barclays Premier League title hopes.
Just three days after their European tie ended all square, both teams were back to do battle for league points.

Each manager made several changes, no doubt with one eye on next week's second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, but there was still more than enough talent on display to make for an entertaining encounter.

Recalled striker Peter Crouch gave Liverpool the lead at the end of the first half, with Nicklas Bendtner levelling on 53 minutes.

However, with Manchester United, who play at Middlesbrough on Sunday, still five points clear at the top of the table, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger knew only victory would have kept their slim hopes of the title alive.

The trip to Anfield on Tuesday night now takes on extra significance if a season which promised so much is not to end in disappointment.

Liverpool started well and Crouch soon tested Manuel Almunia, letting fly from 25 yards and forcing the Arsenal goalkeeper to make an acrobatic one-handed save to tip the ball over.

Crouch was involved again in the 17th minute, this time slipping an expert pass inside the Arsenal backline.

John Arne Riise ran onto the ball but, with William Gallas sliding in, the Norwegian lifted his 18-yard shot over the crossbar.

It was proving to be something of a chess match, with both teams happy to wait for each other to attack and looking for quick counter-attacks.

30 Mar 2008 - Bolton 2-3 Arsenal Match Update

Bolton vs. Arsenal - 29.03.08 +39 Images

Ten-man Arsenal re-ignited their faint Barclays Premier League title hopes by coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Bolton.
Two goals from Matthew Taylor either side of Abou Diaby's sending-off for a reckless challenge on Gretar Steinsson appeared to have given struggling Wanderers a much-needed boost.

However, in the second half William Gallas poked home a corner, before Robin van Persie equalised from the penalty spot after Gary Cahill had brought down Alexander Hleb and Jlloyd Samuel's own goal with seconds remaining capped a remarkable turnaround.

The result was just what Arsenal needed after going five league matches without a win, a run which appeared to have derailed their bid to catch leaders Manchester United.

It also ended Arsenal's remarkable run of not having won at the Reebok in the league since April 2002.

Wenger almost paid the price for leaving 23-goal leading scorer Emmanuel Adebayor - probably with Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool in mind - on the bench for an hour.

Arsenal certainly missed him as they dominated the early stages without threatening.

They should have been ahead in the ninth minute when Hleb threaded a through-ball to Van Persie but with only the goalkeeper to beat he drove straight at Ali Al Habsi.

Nicklas Bendtner then had a shot was charged down by Cahill, before the Danish striker was very close to latching on to Fabregas' quickly-taken free-kick but his slide at the far post came too late.

In the 14th minute Arsenal were made to pay for not making more of their possession.

From a throw-in El Hadji Diouf played in Steinsson down the right and the full-back curled in a superb cross which Taylor headed powerfully past Manuel Almunia from six yards.

It was Bolton's first goal in seven hours and 19 minutes of football in all competitions.

Van Persie tried to twist his way towards goal but Steinsson blocked him off at the expense of a corner and when Arsenal earned a second immediately afterwards Toure thought he had come close to scoring.

His drilled effort from outside the penalty area took a deflection off Bendtner to wrong-foot Al Habsi, but as the goalkeeper watched the ball roll agonisingly wide of the post the assistant referee's flag had already gone up for offside against Gallas.

Arsenal's problems worsened after 31 minutes when Diaby dived in studs up on Steinsson's ankle and referee Chris Foy had no hesitation in showing a red card.

And just when it looked like they would get to half-time without further mishap, Taylor scored a fortuitous second in the 42nd minute.

25 Mar 2008 - Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal: Drogba sparks comeback

Hey everyone,

I've got pictures of the match with Chelsea. This was a bad game, it just pushed Arsenal down to third place on the Premier League standingssad

Barclays Premiership:
Chesea vs Arsenal - 23.03.08 +33 Images

And I'm totally digging Gallas' hair.

A stunning double from Didier Drogba kept Chelsea's faltering title hopes alive and secured a 2-1 win after Arsenal had briefly threatened to put an end to their interest in the Barclays Premier League title race.
The Ivory Coast striker scored two goals in eight minutes after Bacary Sagna had put the Gunners in front.

Drogba's goals stretched Chelsea's unbeaten home league record to 78 games - but more importantly meant they are within touching distance of Manchester United at the top of the table.

Chelsea leapfrogged Arsenal into second place and now sit five points behind Sir Alex Ferguson's side with seven games remaining.

Manchester United have yet to visit Stamford Bridge - and that fixture may have the ultimate say in the destination of the title this season.

Arsenal had been the last team to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in February 2004 - and it looked like a repeat was on the cards when Sagna headed home a corner from Cesc Fabregas in the 59th minute.

Chelsea coach Avram Grant has often been criticised for not being able to beat the top teams but his team's stunning fightback may well have changed that perception once and for all.

The contest was just five minutes old when Michael Ballack tested Manuel Almunia with a free-kick that the Arsenal goalkeeper did well to collect at the foot of his left-hand upright.
